چکیده
It has become necessary to estimate the quantities of runoff by knowing amount rainfall calculate required water storage in reservoirs and determine likelihood flooding. The present study deals with development a hydrological model named Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC-HMS), which uses Digital Elevation Models (DEM). This was used means Geospatial Modeling Extension (HEC-GeoHMS) Geographical Information Systems (GIS) identify discharge Al-Adhaim River catchment embankment dam Iraq simulated rainfall-runoff processes. meteorological models were developed within HEC-HMS from recorded daily data for years 2015 2018. control specifications defined specified period one day time step. Soil Conservation Service-Curve number (SCS-CN), SCS Unit Hydrograph Muskingum methods loss, transformation routing calculations, respectively. two calibration year verification values. results showed that both observed hydrographs highly correlated. model’s performance evaluated using coefficient determination 90% verification. dam’s considered successfully but slightly overestimated. indicated is suitable simulations river catchment.

Application of the HEC-HMS model for runoff simulation in a tropical catchment
Hydrologic simulation employing computer models has advanced rapidly and computerized models have become essential tools for understanding human influences on river flows and designing ecologically sustainable water management approaches. The HEC-HMS is a reliable model developed by the US Army Corps of Engineers that could be used for many hydrological simulations. This model is not calibrated...
متن کاملRunoff characteristics and application of HEC-HMS for modelling stormflow hydrograph in an oil palm catchment.
Rainfall-runoff processes in a small oil palm catchment (8.2 ha) in Johor, Malaysia were examined. Storm hydrographs show rapid responses to rainfall with a short time to peak. The estimated initial hydrologic loss for the oil palm catchment is 5 mm. Despite the low initial loss, the catchment exhibits a high proportion of baseflow, approximately 54% of the total runoff. On an event basis, the ...
متن کاملHydrologic Modeling System (hec-hms):
Many cities have been built along large rivers. The rivers can provide a source of drinking water, act as receiving water for treated effluent, provide navigation for shipping, and other beneficial uses. However, the city must also be protected from flooding due to the close proximity to the river. Hydrologic analysis plays a crucial role in the development of plans for protecting a river city....
متن کاملSimulation of Rainfall-Runoff Process Using Green-Ampt Method and HEC-HMS Model (Case Study: Abnama Watershed, Iran)
Estimation of surface runoff in a watershed based on the rate of received precipitation and quantifying discharge at outlet is important in hydrologic studies. In this study, HEC-HMS hydrological model version 3.4 was used to simulate rainfall-runoff process in Abnama watershed located in south of Iran. To compute infiltration, rainfall excess conversion to runoff and flow routing, methods like...
متن کاملPredicting rainfall-runoff erosivity for single storms in northern Iraq
Estimation of soil loss from single storm events is essential for basin planning and nonpoint source pollution control. Rainfall-runoff erosivity factors for single storm events in northern Iraq were derived from the basic theory of soil detachment and transport. The factors derived are a single parameter which includes runoff depth only and a factor which combines runoff depth and peak rate. T...
